Entering The Competition

To enter The Sporting Globe’s Tipping Competition you must be 18 or over and an Australian Resident. You may only enter the competition once.  A person who makes multiple entries into the competition will be ineligible to win any prizes. The Sporting Globe employees and directors are eligible to enter the competition but are unable to win any of the prizes, weekly or major.

The Sporting Globe may request identification following the announcement of winners. To enter you must fill out the form and agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy all found at www.sportingglobe.com.au/tipping. Once entered, you will be provided with a username and login required to access the customer portal where all tips are placed and results viewed.

Competition Description

The promoter of this competition is Sporting Globe Bar & Grill Pty. Ltd., ABN: 75 135 686 949, 201, 127 Market St. South Melbourne. The Sporting Globe’s Tipping Competition is an original style football tipping competition where one (1) point is awarded for every correct tip and zero (0) for an incorrect tip or a draw. The competition will follow multiple sports across their regular seasons and excluding finals. To place your tips, you must log in to your account portal at www.sportingglobe.com.au/tipping and select the teams you believe will win that Round’s games, for each competition, prior to the closure time of that game / round. Failure to place your tips before each game's closure time will result in your deemed selection of all away teams for that game / round. Each round’s closure time will be provided when logged in to www.sportingglobe.com.au/tipping. As well as selecting each team, for each round you must also select the margin difference of the first game of each round, in each sport (being the margin between the two teams at the end of the game).  If you fail to select the margin difference for a round, you will be provided with the average point margin value from all users of that round.

The Sporting Globe is not liable for any technical or other issues that prevent users from entering the tips prior to the closure time of each round. Provided you meet all of the above criteria, you are eligible to compete for the following prizes:

Prizes

Major Prizes

Each sport has its own competition with its own major prizes. Please refer to the prizes tab under the sport for specific prizes. The tipster who has the highest score at the conclusion of that sport’s Rounds will be awarded the first prize, and then followed down the order for second and third prizes. All cash prizes will be awarded to the winner in the form of a cheque or electronic money transfer to nominated banking account provided on contact of the winner. Any prizes that are valid in a The Sporting Globe venue must be used entirely on the day specified in the prize and winners must make their own arrangements to be at that specific venue in order to collect and participate in their prizes. Major prize winners are also eligible for local venue prizes.

Weekly Prizes

A PERFECT ROUND is when the tipster chooses all the correct winning teams in one round and that round has more than five (5) games in it. In any round where any teams have a bye, a perfect round is choosing the winning team in each of the games played in that round. If there are rounds that are split over two weeks, then the perfect round will also be over two weeks (with the prize being determined and awarded at the end of the second week).

A free MVP Parma and a pot of Carlton Draught, Carlton Dry or Little Bull will be awarded to any tipster who scores a “Perfect Round”, in any sport. The Free Parma and Pot can be redeemed at any The Sporting Globe venue participating in The Sporting Globe’s Tipping Competition. Only the winners of each round will be notified via their private and custom results email sent after a Round’s completion. Winners must present this email with attached coupon to the venue for redemption of prize. Coupons must be redeemed within one week of receiving them or before the expiry on that coupon. The Sporting Globe reserves the right to change or cease the Free Parma and Pot reward at any point in time.

Determining Winners

Winners will be determined based on the scores of the competition, and the criteria set out above. If more than one tipster has tipped the same number of winners at the conclusion of the sport’s Rounds, then - amongst those tipsters - the tipster with the lesser total discrepancy over that sport’s season between the margins tipped and the actual margins shall be deemed to have finished higher. [As an example of the calculation of the discrepancy: if a tipster overestimates the margin by 2 in the first round and underestimates the margin by 3 in the second round, then the tipster’s total discrepancy (after two rounds) shall be 5]. 

If there is still a tie between tipsters after the calculation of the discrepancy in margins, then those tipsters will be separated by reviewing their tips for the first round of the season with the tipster with the higher number of correct tips in that round deemed to have finished higher (and if there is more than one such tipster, then – amongst those tipsters - the tipster with the lowest margin discrepancy for that round shall be deemed to have finished higher).  And if there is still a tie, the same process applied to round one shall be applied to round two and then to round three and so on until the tie is broken.

Notifications of Winners & Collection of Prizes

Major Prize Winners; The Sporting Globe will announce the First, Second and Third winners of each sport in The Sporting Globe’s Tipping Competition within 10 business days after completion of the last round of that sport. Each winner will be contacted via his or her details provided when joining the competition. Failure to reach any winner by their provided contact details within within 20 business days after completion of the last round of that sport, will result in disqualification of the prize.

The collection of prizes will be organised with the winner when he/she is contacted by The Sporting Globe but must be within 30 days after completion of the last round of that sport – unless that prize must be collected on a specific date specified in that prize. Failure to collect any prize awarded within this time will result in disqualification of prize.

Weekly Winners; The winners of the Weekly Prizes will be announced only to the winners in their private and custom results email sent after the completion of each Round. Coupons must be redeemed within one week of receiving them or before the expiry on that coupon. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of prize.

Limitation of Liability

The promoter and its employees, officers and agents are not responsible for and shall not be liable for:

• any condition caused by events beyond the control of the promoter that may cause the promotion to be disrupted or corrupted;
• any injuries, losses (including, without limitation, loss of profits), or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of the prize, or from participation in the promotion; or
• any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the promotion.

To the extent permitted by law, the promoter is not liable for any loss, including, but not limited to, direct, consequential (including economic) or indirect loss or any loss of profits, by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the promoter or its servants or agents, in connection with this promotion or the arrangement for supply, or the supply or failure to supply, of any goods or services by any person to any participant. However, nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects, nor is intended to affect, any rights that a player might have that are not able to be excluded under applicable Australian consumer protection laws.

General

The promoter and its employees, officers and agents will not be responsible, and shall not be liable if any of the matches in listed in The Sporting Globe’s Tipping Competition are cancelled, postponed, or in any way disrupted for any reason beyond the control of the promoter, such as (without limitation) cancellation, postponement or disruption (or if the result of any match is altered or the points awarded to any team are forfeited). In the event of a cancellation, postponement or disruption to any matches (or a result being changed or points being forfeited), the promoter reserves the right to cancel the promotion without awarding any prizes, or to modify the promotion as it sees fit. This decision will be at the sole discretion of the promoter (subject to the requirements of any relevant regulatory body). The promoter will act fairly and reasonably in making any decision in accordance with this clause.

The promoter has the sole discretion to ban, remove or change the tips of any users found to be misusing the platform or promotion, willfully benefiting from a error in the platform or promotion and not disclosing issues in writing to info@sportingglobe.com.au of any technical issues with the platform. The will be executed following attempted written communication with users to their supplied email address. 

This Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria.  The promoter and you irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

Privacy Policy and Privacy Statement

This statement sets out the basis on which any personal information The Sporting Globe Pty Ltd (“us”, “we”, “our”, “The Sporting Globe”) collected from you will be processed by us; please read it carefully. In this statement “personal information” means information or an opinion that allows you to be personally identified. We would like to collect and process the information provided to us, unless you indicate otherwise, to contact you with offers and information about products and services that may be of interest to you; Carry out obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us. By joining The Sporting Globe’s Tipping Competition, you give The Sporting Globe permission to email you The Sporting Globe marketing and third party offers which may be of interest to you. The information that we collect from you may be held and stored within Australia. It may also be processed by our employees and contractors operating in Australia. By submitting your personal information, you agree to this transfer, storing and processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this statement. We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group of companies, which means our subsidiaries and our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries. We may also disclose your personal information to a third party if we, or substantially all of our assets, are acquired by that third party, in which case personal information held by us about our customers will be one of the transferred assets. The Privacy Act gives you the right to access personal information held about you.
